About F.P. Journe

François-Paul Journe founded his company, Montres Journe SA, in Geneva in 1999, signing each of his creations F.P. Journe Invenit et Fecit. Born in 1957 in Marseilles and a graduate of the Paris Watchmaking School, François-Paul Journe completed his first constant-force tourbillon pocket watch in 1982. After setting up as an independent watchmaker in Paris in 1985, he built an astronomical (planetary) pocket watch then, for Asprey’s in London, a sympathique clock. He went on to open a workshop in Switzerland manufacturing movements for other brands. François-Paul Journe has been honoured with numerous distinctions, including in 1994 the prestigious Gaïa Award, conferred by the Institut l’Homme et le Temps.

1999 Launch of a collection of chronometers. Presentation of the first constant-force tourbillon wristwatch.

2000 Presentation of the first resonance wristwatch.

2001 World-first presentation of the F.P. Journe automatic calibre with a 120-hour power reserve. Creation of eighteen unique Opus One watches, in partnership with Harry Winston.

2002 Presentation of the Octa Calendrier.                                                   

2003 Presentation of the Octa Luna.

2005 Creation of the Sonnerie Souveraine wristwatch with grande sonnerie, and the Chronomètre Souverain.
